Quality Engineering Technician

ABOUT THIS POSITION

 

This position works under the direction of the Quality Manager to aide in planning activities concerned with the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for the essential functions listed for this job description as they pertain to processes, materials, and products.

 

Preferred Education:

Two (2) year trade school or equivalent job experience preferred. ASQ certification desirable.

 

Preferred Work Experience:

Three to Six (3-6) years’ experience in Quality Control preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Perform duties required to help establish and direct activities related to current production jobs, special projects, and newly developed programs
  • Maintain established quality standards and procedures
  • Assist the Quality Manager in preparation, revision, and execution of quality documentation
  • Work with Quality Engineers and customers on quality related issues as requested
  • Reconcile Return Material Authorization product and reports on a monthly basis
  • Reconcile all Quality Hold locations for product and components in the facility on a monthly basis
  • Maintain and organize all Material Review Board areas
  • Ensure all DNR's have rework work orders and maintain the 24 hour response and turnaround time
  • Review in-process, finished product, and returned non-conforming materials with Quality Engineer to help determine proper disposition when required
  • Assist with working on customer concerns and problems and communicate with responsible management
  • Assist Quality Engineering in answering customer concerns with corrective actions taken to correct problems as required
  • Provide follow-ups on customer and in-house complaints and problems as required
  • Perform checking of control plans to ensure accuracy process
  • Perform product inspection in the Quality Bay as needed
  • Monitor on-going statistical process control charting and suggest changes to maintain specifications
  • Assist in performing MSA studies, capability, and process potential studies to evaluate measurement and production processes
  • Assist Quality Engineering with administering and tracking of ESCR status per Customer specified requirements
  • Assist in maintaining and updating Quality Documentation due to Management of Change(s)
  • Keep work area clean and maintain professional appearance
  • Verbally communicate Orscheln's quality and environmental policies
  • Follow the requirements of the Quality Policy, ISO/AS system, and procedures
  • Follow all safety policies, but not limited to PPE, Lockout /Tag out, machinery guards, safe lifting, etc.
  • Report any safety hazards
  • Report all accidents and/or near misses whether they are major or minor in nature to the Quality Manager
  • Follow all Orscheln employee policies as stated in the Employee Handbook
  • Other duties as assigned
