ABOUT THIS POSITION

This position is a regular, full-time position in the Training Department. The Training Specialist will work closely with all areas of the Company to develop clear and concise training information and procedural documentation. This position will assume primary responsibility for maintaining the information on the Orscheln Farm and Home Oscar pages in a current and accurate manner. The training specialist will work directly with vendors, buyers, and store personnel to develop product training materials for the stores, including video. They will perform one-on-one training for store personnel on technical and soft skills, both in person and via phone. Reports to the Director of Training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for maintaining the data base for the Orscheln Farm and Home Oscar web pages in an organized and accurate manner.
  • Responsible for creating and posting information on Oscar in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Develop procedural training for computer systems and/or software used by the company, as well as operational procedure documentation.
  • Work directly with vendors and buyers to create product training for store personnel in both video and written format (this may be both on-site and off-site).
  • Assist the Director of Training in developing online training programs.
  • Provide one-on-one training to store personnel in both a webinar format and in on-site training.
  • Provide support for store personnel in all areas related to training.
  • In addition to training responsibilities, also responsible for supporting firearms compliance, store administration, store communications, and customer service operations.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & DESIRED SKILLS

  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong desire and aptitude to learn new software
  • Comfortable working with both Associates and customers through many methods – phone, webinars, and in person.
  • Good organization skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and a desire to provide superior customer service
  • Some travel required, including overnights.
  • Desired but not required: Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe
